 Krotz Springs is a small town situated along the banks of the Atchafalaya. It is one of several communities that lay claim as "The Gateway to the Atchafalaya ." Originally a saw mill town, Krotz Springs has a population of approximately 1200 and is on the Zydeco Cajun Prairie Scenic Byway. While the music is grand, the beauty is such that many have visited via the French Hotel Barge.
Valero
An important employer in Krotz Springs,  the Valero refinery is located on 381 acres and employs approximately 230.

Events, Attractions, Arts & Culture
Annually, the Krotz Springs area celebrates the Atchafalaya with an Atchafalaya Fun Day .
Krotz Springs residents enjoy a close proximity to Lafayette, LA. which hosts the annual Festival International de Louisiane. In addition to the musical performances at the April Festival International, Louisiana Crossroads offers a significant concert series across the state.
Like all of Acadiana, the area supports the Ragin Cajuns of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Nearby Opelousas offers two major festivals held annually The Opelousas Spice and Music Festival is held the first weekend each June with Zydeco representing just one musical element! It is a family festival offering a variety of music while promoting the area's prominent spice industry. Pepper eating contests, food booths, a jazz brunch, and a cook-off, are just a few of the events! In October, the Yambilee festival supports the Yam industry.
Parks and Recreation
As a Gateway to the Atchafalaya, recreational opportunities are numerous and include biking, boating, fishing and more as described on many of the websites dedicated to this important and endangered river basin.
Evangeline Downs is a short drive away and offers entertainment for the racing enthusiast as well as good cajun food.

Shopping and Grocery Stores
An easy 45 minute drive takes you to the regionally popular Shopping Mall of Acadiana as well as dozens of strip malls, boutique and antique shops located in and around Lafayette. Washington, LA is worth the 15 minute drive to enjoy the numerous Antique shops.
Krotz Springs grocery stores like A Legend are a haven for Boudin and Cracklin.
